How did you get interested in global poverty?
Living in Egypt, where a third of the population live in extreme poverty, it’s something that I see every day. For me personally, if I can work toward helping even one person, that’s why I’m here.
What advice do you have for people who’ve just joined the organization?
Communication is key! As most of our team work remotely, it’s hard to know what’s going on, unless you tell us! We don’t know that you don’t understand a task unless you email us! We don’t know that you might need a bit of extra time to complete an assignment, because you have been unwell unless you tell us! We are happy to answer any and every question that you have about your program and time with us, so ask away.
What does your typical day look like?
My day to day is very varied. I can be sending out new starter information, holding training sessions, giving feedback to trackers, screening potential new team members or working with universities to promote our internships. No two days are the same.
Top three life highlights?
Being made redundant gave me three life highlights – sounds strange but this was the catalyst to me moving to Egypt, getting married and having my children.
Favorite book?
Anything by Peter James.
Favorite movie?
Too many to choose from! I do love a good action movie though.
Any random facts you can share with us?
