Content Writing for NGOs

Overview: Learn how to craft content for good causes and issues that you care about. In this course, you will learn how to pick topics to write about, learn the basics of SEO, how to incorporate this into your articles and how to avoid plagiarism. Most participants will have the opportunity to write an article for The Borgen Project’s Blog and will receive feedback from our editors on your work.
Costs: $50

Lobbying Congress for Social Good

Overview: Learn how to build support in Congress for issues you care about. In this course you will learn how to schedule meetings with Congressional offices, prepare for meetings and how to present information in a compelling way. Most participants will have the opportunity to either take part in one of The Borgen Project’s actual meetings with congressional staff or do a solo in-district office in your state (if based in the U.S.).

Careers in Humanitarian Aid Work

Overview: UN agencies, NGO’s and policy organizations like The Borgen Project, all depend on highly skilled staff to have an impact. Learn different careers paths in global development and aid work.

Modern Advocacy

Overview: From ending segregation to providing women with the right to vote, nearly every wrong ever righted in history was achieved through advocacy. Despite advocacy’s overwhelming record of success it can be challenging to pinpoint which tactics played the biggest role in any given success. Technology has been instrumental in advancing advocacy but has also created a host of challenges for advocacy groups (slactivism, online misinformation, etc.).
