I am interning with the Borgen Project because I am passionate about holding our elected officials accountable for their role in global development. As a sociology and international affairs student and the daughter of immigrants, my studies and travels have shown me firsthand how U.S. foreign policies directly impact the world’s most vulnerable communities. I believe that those of us with the privilege of power must act as a catalyst for change to ensure that silenced voices are finally heard in the public sphere. By advocating to make poverty a focal point of our nation’s foreign policy, we can protect human rights and foster a. more stable, equitable world for everyone.
