Yasmin Hailes

Name: Yasmin Hailes
Location: Cumbria, United Kingdom
Role: Writer/Journalist Team Member

Fundraising Goal: $400

How did you get interested in global issues?
I have always been interested in the news, and felt helpless when watching horrific stories unfold. I studied journalism at university to be a voice for the underdog. Journalists hold so much power, and I often feel as though they do not use that power to the best of their ability; and I would love to be part of that change.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
If everyone played a part, global poverty would have been dealt with by now. Those lucky enough to have a platform or voice should use it.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I’m an animal lover who loves being out in the fells with my rescue dog Leo.

My Compassion/Humility List
I will do the following for any friends and family who donate in my honor.

  • £25 – I will walk 10 miles.
  • £50 – I will climb a mountain.
  • £75 – I will run 10 miles.
