How did you get interested in global issues?
Making an impact on the global community has always been something that has motivated me. It was when I was pursuing a Masters degree in International Relations, when I realised how interlinked and connected the world really is and how the issues in a nation impact the international society.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I believe that everybody has a responsibility to protect and help those suffering across the world. My motivation to volunteer my time to serve and help the world’s poor stems from my travels. I have witnessed poverty in regions such as Asia and Africa and in some destitute areas in Europe. While I was able to help some homeless people through food and charity, I realised that it is important for me to work with an established organisation to truly make a difference.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
In my spare time I often volunteer at homeless shelters such as the Urban Outreach and the Homeless Aid UK. In my spare time I volunteer at MissingMaps where I remotely trace satellite imagery into OpenStreetMap to put the world’s most vulnerable people and places on the map to support humanitarian aid and sustainable development. Additionally I enjoy travelling and practicing yoga.
