How did you get interested in global issues?
I have always been interested in social issues and from a young age I have participated in local movements to improve society- such as environment cleanliness drives and food drives for the homeless. Even though these events helped my local community, I felt like it was not enough and I believe that being part of an organisation that helps to alleviate global poverty is one step closer for me to help fight social injustice.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Having seen -first hand- how abject poverty leads to starvation and suffering, I can now recognise my privilege and do something to help the people who are stuck in the never-ending poverty-hunger cycle.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love reading, swimming and cooking (individually, of course. I have yet to try any combination of the three).
My Compassion/Humility List
I will do the following for any friends and family who donate in my honor.
- £70- Virtual cook-along (2 course meal).
- £100- Meal for 2 cooked by me.
- £250- Will attempt to cook a 3 course meal for 2 people with one hand tied behind my back (anyone who donates is welcome to watch the ordeal).
