How did you get interested in global issues? I took several classes specifically about global issues concerning sociology, politics and philosophy.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? Poverty is perhaps the world’s biggest problem which has a reasonable solution as the economic disparity is ludicrous. The US can make a massive difference, and we can help push for that.

Any interesting tidbits to share? I lived in Rio de Janeiro where poverty was rampant, and I have seen it otherwise with my own eyes due to traveling a lot.

Some facts:

  • Nearly 1/2 of the world’s population, more than 3 billion people, live on less than $2.50 a day
  • 1 billion children worldwide are living in poverty
  • More than 750 million people lack adequate access to clean drinking water.
