Tom

Name: Tom Howes
Location: London, UK
Role: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
My Mum worked in global maternal health, which inspired me to get involved in international affairs. The work she did was incredible, and her influence led me to study International Relations at University. The course deepend my knowledge of inequality across the world, and on leaving uni I would love to do whatever I can to tackle such issues in my free time.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Because the UK Government is not doing enough. When more people join the cause, and use their time to educate and engage others to use their time, will pressure mount to make a difference at that top level. I would like to use those extra hours in my day towards a valueable cause.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
A random fact is that I once acted as the face of Centrepoints Homeless Christmas Appeal when I was 12.

My Compassion/Humility List
I will do the following for any friends and family who donate in my honor.
• Bake Sale (£50)
• Make my housemates dinner (£75)
• 15k run (£100)
