Name: Tobi Adesokan
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Position: PR/Marketing Intern
Fundraising Goal: $500
How did you get interested in global issues?
Growing up in Nigeria, extreme poverty was something I saw on a daily. I saw people constantly struggling to have even the slightest grasp on life’s necessities. From a young age, I was determined to use my privilege to help those who could not help themselves.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
It’s been a personal goal of mine to do concrete things to enact change. I understand that it is not enough to know the statistics and just talk about it. By volunteering my time, I know that I’m working towards potentially making at least one person’s life a bit more liveable.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I enjoy watching BBC Africa documentaries. I am also an avid fan of all things rice.
