How did you get interested in global issues?
Growing up in an Armenian household living in the diaspora, I have always turned an eye towards and cared deeply about global issues, especially those from my own country. Having been exposed to a different language and culture, I grew up having a large amount of respect for and affinity toward cultures other than my own. I recognized early on that a lot of people suffer from similar issues, and in comparing those of my people living in Armenia, my interests in global issues arose.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I strongly believe in using your time on Earth to leave a positive overall impact. The people living in poverty deserve better than to be neglected, because there is a lot that more privileged people can do to make their lives easier and, thus, happier. I would love to be a part of that movement towards a happier world for most people living on it.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
In my spare time, I love to read and to try to build pieces of furniture by repurposing scraps of wood. I like to run and go to the gym, and when I’m not doing any of those things, I like serving my Armenian community living in L.A.
