Name: Marie Ahebee
Role: Regional Director
Fundraising goal: $500
How did you get interested in global issues?
I was born and raised in the Ivory Coast and moved to the United States about four years ago to attend college so I have always had that international-focused mindset. Also, while in college, I studied International Affairs and Spanish and took a few peace studies classes. All this has allowed me to learn about so many crucial issues affecting our world today and to look at them with a different perspective in order to find innovative solutions!
What do you do when you’re not fighting global poverty?
I TRAVEL! I love to go anywhere and everywhere. If not, I go out to eat with friends and try to discover new restaurants in the city, I read, paint, make jewelry, volunteer with refugees, and get some sleep at times!
What have you learned/found interesting about The Borgen Project?
“It’s not uncommon for a leader to support a poverty-reduction bill after as few as 7-10 people call in support of it.”
Any interesting tidbits to share?
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
I will do the following for any friends and family who donate in my honor.
The List: Where Compassion Exceeds Humility
- $25: Make you dinner.
- $50: Make you a unique piece of jewelry.
- $100: Go out in public in the outfit of your choice; you get to have fun here!
