How did you get interested in global issues? Since I was a little girl, I have always been interested in politics and what was going on in our own nation. As I got older and began to understand what was happening outside of our borders, it became clear to me that there were other countries who were suffering that needed our help and someone to advocate for them.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? I feel that it is our duty as a first-world country, and as fellow humans, to help those in need, especially if we are in a position to help them. Everyone deserves a chance to thrive regardless of financial background.

Any interesting tidbits to share? I once met John Oliver in a doughnut shop in Southern New Jersey.
