Name: Sofia Reeves
Location: Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
Role: Political Affairs Team Member
Fundraising Goal: £400
How did you get interested in global issues?
Through my interest in politics, I quickly realised how many countries, families, individuals, are reliant on international aid to survive, but also, when researching further, how little the UK actually gives to these countries which need resources, finance, medicine to build infrastructure, to build social institutions, to provide better education and to build food security. This is why I advocate for global change.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Personally, I believe that is it incredibly significant to dedicate one’s time to help tackle poverty because we live in unprecedented times and so anyone can find themselves in financial difficulties or instability yet in other parts of the world it does not take unprecedented times to find one self in poverty because there are institutional and social barriers that prevent people, individuals and families from having stability in their lives. They must survive on rations. They do not have access to an education. They do not have the ability to prosper in their lives. Yet together we can help change this.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I enjoy baking, fitness, and reading.
