Name: Sebastian Ramirez Arenas
Location: San Diego, CA
Position: Public Relations Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I am always interested in solving global problems, with peace, with education, with participation–I have a social support. When I joined a group of boy scouts, my interest grew and I acquired philanthropic skills that I did not know I could develop.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
My family did not have a lot of money. I always saw the need to save by not making unnecessary expenses. However, I always knew that there were people who were going through bad experiences or did not have money. It is necessary to worry about poverty, especially when considering the children who have the potential to change the world. We have to change it to make it better, and provide them with the opportunity to do it.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I was a scout for almost 10 years in Colombia, and I was always worried about children living in unfavorable situations. By letting them experience various activities, we helped them to live a different childhood. At the same time, we offered them ideas to fulfill their dreams and to come out of those situations.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
1. Put an advice on my family businesses.
2. Social media posts
