How did you get interested in global issues?
I got interested in global issues after watching a film called, “The End of Poverty?” Learning about the history of third world countries and large wealth disparities really opened my eyes. Before, when I thought about global issues, I thought it was an unfortunate luck-of-the-draw for some people. What I realized was that the growing lower class is created from free-market policies and that put people in severe poverty. Ever since, I have felt it’s my responsibility to take part in global issues and try to help set things straight.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I’m volunteering my time to serve the world’s poor because I think it’s a very important job that won’t get done unless someone realizes it’s importance. I am so fortunate for all the opportunities I’ve been given, and I think that this would be a good way to give back.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
The person who founded The Borgen Project is from WSU, and since I am also attending WSU, I thought this would be a great organization to work for. As for random facts about me, I’m currently writing a horror novel which is about 1/3 written at the moment. If I get the 500 dollars I need, then I will finish it for sure!

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. I will match any donation with my own money, if you donate 50 dollars, I’ll donate 50 of my own.
