Name: Paula Ruiz
Location: Bellevue, WA
Position: PR/Marketing Intern

Fundraising Goal: $1,000

How did you get interested in global issues?
Being an immigrant from a third-world country made me do it. I mean, something’s gotta change.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
My eyes were opened up in a slum area in Caloocan, Metro Manila in the Philippines. Growing up, I witnessed the life of barely having enough. I want to make a change and be part of that change. I won’t be a millionaire by doing this, but at least I don’t have to be a millionaire to do this.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love, love, love cooking and changing the lyrics of any songs into more “pun” ways. I’m also a fan of Dave Ramsey.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $25+ and I’ll sing you any songs
  2. $100+ and I’ll make you my signature dish
  3. $300+ and I’ll clean your kitchen ***Bonus: $1000 and I’ll eat “balut”. Google for your own sake.
