How did you get interested in global issues?
Growing up in Jordan, I was exposed to the world of politics and international relations through the nations beyond our borders at a young age. I had the opportunity to befriend and interact with countless Syrians, Palestinians, Yemenis, and others who opened my eyes to the complexity and devastation of escalating conflicts in the turbulent Middle East, and later the rest of the world.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
With refugees making up more than a tenth of our population, I watched first-hand how these conflict scan impact the quality of life of millions of people not only in the Middle East, but around the world. This only became more clear to me as I moved to England to pursue my degree in Social and Political Studies.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am a student at University College London studying European Social and Political Studies. I specialise in Anthropology and Italian, and will complete a year abroad in Italy later this year!
