How did you get interested in global issues?
As I became interested in global issues, the more I learned about my ethnic background as an Eritrean-American. My parents, a former Eritrean refugee and Eritrean immigrant, propelled me to become interested in and involved with global issues.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I am volunteering my time to serve the world’s poor because I believe poverty is a crime against humanity. As a U.S. resident living above the poverty line, it is my duty to use my privilege and fight for the basic human rights of marginalized people worldwide.
