Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Position: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $700

How did you get interested in global issues?
Being trilingual, and growing up in a multicultural Lebanese-American home, ingrained in me not only an appreciation, but also a dedication to foreign cultures and global issues.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I feel responsible to do my part for those desperately in need in a way that feels natural to me: through my writing.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am an avid reader of graphic novels and love being active by lifting weights, hiking and yoga. I am currently working as an adjunct French language professor at my local community college, as well as freelance French language interpreting on the side.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. Write thank you letters/emails/messages to each person who donates in my honor!
  2. Match the highest donation myself.
  3. Update them on my work at The Borgen Project to keep them aware of important issues.
