Name: Nabeela Alam
Location: Manchester, UK
Role: Writer

Fundraising Goal: £400

How did you get interested in global issues?
I have always kept up-to-date with current issues around the world. I found myself taking a deeper interest in the wellbeing of people living in devestated countries especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I read articles about the people of Yemen unable to recieve vital resources due to rebels at the border. I wanted to do whatever I could to help.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I believe there is something everyone can do to help the world’s poor. Dedicating time and effort to raise money and awareness is just as effective as donating. I am happy to serve my free time to help spread awareness of The Borgen Project’s cause and help fight the battle against global poverty.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, cooking, yoga, and pilates.
