Name: Michael Lugg
Location: Bronx, New York
Position: Political Affairs Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues? Since moving to the U.S at a young age from Jamaica, I have always been interested in global issues. Jamaica is a country where about 1/4th of the population lives in poverty. Knowing this, I always wanted to contribute to reducing global poverty in some way.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? There are so many people in dire need of basic human rights such as water, food and shelter. If volunteering a small portion of my time means it could improve their lives, then I think that amount of effort is nothing compared to the possible results.

Any interesting tidbits to share? During my free time, I enjoy biking through the city, playing basketball and going to concerts with friends. I also enjoy cooking when I have the time.

Fun facts: the summer is my favorite season, and I love sci-fi movies.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. For $25, I will share the best maple and walnut banana bread recipe
  2. For $50, I will make you dinner
  3. For $100, I will take you out bowling
