How did you get interested in global issues?
There was a magazine in my fifth grade science class one day, I think it was Scholastic News. The headline article was about a water shortage in Sudan. It didn’t sit well with me, so I ended up holding a car wash and bake sale fundraiser a week later in hopes we could raise enough to build a well.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
In the United States, we have the power to advocate for those who aren’t in the position to do so, plain and simple.

Any interesting tidbits to share?

  1. I enjoy a good competition — ping pong, volleyball, exploding kittens, basically anything but foosball.
  2. Lately I’ve been on a mission for the best nachos in town, just a “foodie” that way, if you’re reading this please give me your nacho recommendations.
  3. I majored in Philosophy, so if you’d like to talk existential worries or ethical dilemmas, I’m your gal.
  4. I like to hike and write and basically do all of the things Ashevillians do!

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $200: What do you need?! Can I clean your house? Walk your dogs for a couple of weeks? Do your gardening? Clean out that shed full of junk? Let’s get creative.
  2. $100: My own personal mechanic (slash husband) will give you a free oil
change, tire rotation, 27 point inspection, and fluid top off.
  3. $50: I’ll make dinner. I’m not a master chef, but I can cook you food that makes you say “Mmm, not bad.” So, that’s something!
