How did you get interested in global issues?
Through social media. With it being a large platform, it is a great way to get invested in global issues. Reading articles and posts on a widespread of issues, I realised that there are issues that are being ignored or misreperesented such as Palestine – it often gets ignored by western media and if it is covered by news outlets, the information given shows biasness. Also reading about poverty stricken countries such as Niger has given me awareness that more needs to be done and that countries like the UK and the US should do more to help.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I have an awareness that I am privileged than a lot of people in this world and that I should do something to help people in need. There are many people in this world living in poor countries that don’t have the most basic rights such as education, good hygiene and access to healthcare. I believe that I can help to urge leaders and those in power to help tackle poverty in disadvantaged countries especially when they have the financial ability to do so.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
An interesting fact about me is that I was part of a non profit organisation group that empowers young women
