Growing up in a Middle-Eastern country, Yemen, I have witnessed first-hand people enduring agony, suffering extreme poverty, and how the war exacerbated their situation. Yemen is merely one of many countries suffering poverty and/or extreme poverty. Children are denied their fundamental human necessities, while women have not yet been able to prioritise equal pay, as they are still striving for access to education. Serving as a member of the Political Affairs team at The Borgen Project grants me a platform to voice unheard pleas and advocate for the world’s poor. I believe that each one of us CAN make a positive impact in the world. Together, we can turn despair into dreams and transform their lives.
