Name: Makena Boling
Location: Carrollton, Georgia
Position: PR/Marketing Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I believe this topic is something that people tend to push under the mat and not discuss as much. I believe in looking at the bigger picture. Working towards helping global issues could, in the long run, help locally as well.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I am a firm believer in helping others and sharing your time to give back. I hope that during this time, I will not only gain more insight on the world’s poor and be able to make a difference, but also gain a new power of voice I have never found before.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I find a great deal of my passion being put into writing. Whether I am writing creatively or scholarly, doing research and writing about topics of interest brings me pleasure, and I hope to carry out my passion into my future with a career. I have had blogs and written for the Odyssey on various topics of my choice. I have an interest in public relations, and that is why I am obtaining my bachelor’s degree in that field of study. Fun fact, I’m a Delta Zeta.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. Write a personal thank you note thanking you for your time and donation in support of the organization.
  2. $75: I will make sweet treats for all of the people who decided to donate their time.
  3. $200: I will create videos of myself thanking you.
