How did you get interested in global issues?
My mother and grandpa would volunteer at a children’s camp in Ukraine near Kiev during the summer while I was in middle school and high school. They would tell me all about their trips, what they had seen, and how they helped. They went back to the same camp each year and were able to see how what they did helped the children. I want to be a part of that.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I will gladly say that I am a very privileged individual, so I have always wanted to help others who didn’t have what I did growing up. In my later elementary years and through middle school, I worked a lot with the local homeless. I was unable to be as active when I entered high school, but it was nice to still help when I could. I want to continue to help others who deserve more, but don’t have the means to receive it.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am fairly creative/crafty.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $1 for a Rough Day? (letting students pet my dog in the middle of campus)
  2. $25: Jump rope across campus
  3. $50: Wear a crazy hat ALL DAY
