Name: Lucas Schmidt
Location: Leander, TX
Position: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $600

How did you get interested in global issues?
Reading about global topics on the news, such as the recent humanitarian crisis in Yemen, caused me to see outside of my own country and think about the poor conditions that many people in the world face daily.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Educating the public about the world’s poor is a worthy cause, and simply writing articles about their daily struggles seems to help provide assistance by causing people to care. In short, I want to help, even if it’s in a small way.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I like to write novels, short stories and poetry. My long-term goal is being a full-time writer, whether it’s for a company or as a freelance writer.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
1. For $100, I’ll write a short story about you.
2. For $250, I’ll mow your lawn.
3. For $500, I’ll sign up for a marathon.
