How did you get interested in global issues? Public interest issues have always been something on my radar. However, I think one of the good things to have come out of these past several years of turbulence in our country is that people are finally having their eyes opened to issues they might normally ignore. Seeing some of the choices the administration has made in foreign affairs made me realize that it is time our country stepped it up and started acting for the global greater good.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? For the last seven years I’ve practiced law. Over this time, I’ve seen how much of an impact legal experience can have in raising awareness and lobbying for global issues. Recently, I decided that I wanted to quit my commercial litigation practice and focus fully on public interest policy work. When I saw The Borgen Project’s mission and strategy, I immediately saw that this was an area where I could start making an impact.
Any interesting tidbits to share? I was the Captain and Co-Founder of my College’s Quidditch team, I’m a member of the Order or the Barristers, and I rock climb in my free time.
My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
- $50 donation will get you a free delicious and healthy cooked dinner
- $75 donation, and I will join you in anything you’ve been trying to get people involved in (spin class, kickboxing, volunteering)
- $100 donation, and I’ll do something extremely silly in public, of your choosing, as long as there’s no nudity involved!
