How did you get interested in global issues?
I lived with my parents in Congo when I was a teenager. My dad was a doctor and my mother did whatever was needed to help run the hospital. I loved helping with the nutrition clinic at the hospital, so I saw severe malnutrition first-hand. Now, my younger brother works to provide water and sanitation to some of the poorest areas of Africa.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
We are all here to work and help each other however we can. I loved living in Africa. It is such a beautiful part of the world, and the people are kind and gentle, but the poverty is real and sets into motion some terrible outcomes. When we help people to be able to live, work and survive comfortably, it helps reduce anger, frustration and possible dangerous situations for many people.
