How did you get interested in global poverty?
Born and raised in South Africa, seeing the effects of poverty on a daily basis made me realize that I can make a difference in the world, no matter how small my contribution.

 

What’s your favorite thing about being part of The Borgen Project?
Knowing that we are working for a cause that really does matter! I love my colleagues and team member too – great bunch of selfless and good people.

 

What advice do you have for people who’ve just joined the organization?
Always remember why you have joined the team – to fight and alleviate global poverty! Your contribution to your internship matters!

 

What does your typical day look like?
Management of the teams, recruitment screening and correspondence, updates on trackers and various spreadsheets, amongst many other duties.

 

Where’s your favorite place in the world?
A small seaside town in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa called Ballito. It has the most amazing beaches!

 

Top three life highlights?

  1. The birth of my beautiful daughter
  2. Meeting my amazing husband
  3. Working for The Borgen Project – I’ve always wanted to help people less fortunate than myself.

 

Favorite book?
I love all Jodi Picoult’s work – my favorites are Change Of Heart and My Sister’s Keeper.

 

Favorite movie?
Too many to mention… If I had to choose though I’d go with The Green Mile with Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan. Forrest Gump is also amazing!

 

Any random facts you can share with us?
I am a qualified Paralegal in Company Law.
