Name: Keira Charles
Location: Glenside, Pennsylvania
Position: Journalism Intern
Fundraising Goal: $700
How did you get interested in global issues?
My parents and my grandparents were all passionate about giving to others, and I learned from their example.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Because I’m from a privileged nation that hasn’t always been fair to the rest of the world and, as such, we have a duty to help others.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I have a black belt in Taekwondo and a novel in the works (which I’ll probably never ever finish), and I love to crochet.
My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
1. $50: Hand-crocheted scarf, any color
2. $75: Crocheted hat
3. $85: Handmade rug, or I’ll bake you a cake.
4. $100: Short story (2,000 words or less) with as many suggestions as you want
