Name: Karen Manu
Location: Marlboro, New Jersey
Position: Political Affairs Intern
Fundraising Goal: $500
How did you get interested in global issues? I have always been interested in global issues, even at a young age. I never understood why certain individuals did not have the opportunity to gain basic necessities that others can obtain. I believe everyone deserves to gain access to food supplies, clean water, and a safe area to live and raise their families.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? I think it is important that everyone volunteers their time to contribute to any organization that they feel passionate about. I am volunteering my time to serve the world’s poor because I was fortunate enough to witness how families and individuals live in poverty and how they try to live off the conditions that they were placed into. My goal is to contribute in any form to make sure that I am contributing to improving someone else’s life.
Any interesting tidbits to share? I love interior design and real estate–basically the whole HGTV channel. I also love music, and I’m always interested in hearing new music suggestions.
