Name: Julia Kemner
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Position: Writing Intern

Fundraising Goal: $1,000

How did you get interested in global issues?
Through my studies and activities at The University of Pittsburgh, I have focused on educating myself and others on issues of human rights. I have dedicated significant time to learning the ways legislative and community efforts can help reform justice, health care and overall living standards domestically and globally.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
All people are enumerated basic rights as humans to a certain standard of living, and not all are afforded it. Addressing these inequalities and helping impoverished communities is a necessary feat to further the betterment of our world.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love playing rugby, hiking, kayaking, going to concerts, traveling, and going to the beach (with a good book in hand). Soon I will be heading to Germany to attain my Joint-Masters in International Humanitarian Action through the NOHA Erasmus Mundus program!
