Name: Jordan Powell
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Position: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
When I first started traveling on my own, I began to learn more about the different places around the world, and I became increasingly invested in international politics.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Poverty alleviation is one of the primary global concerns of our day. Once people are provided with livable wages, public health improves, more people are able to provide for their families, send their kids to schools, et cetera. A lot of what we think of as larger systemic issues, begin here.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I just got a skateboard (since I still can’t drive), which will hopefully become one of my new hobbies and preferred method of transportation, once I learn how to ride.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $150: Make dinner
  2. $300: Try a skateboard trick
  3. $500: Dye my hair a new color
