Name: Jordan Miller
Location: Zeeland, Michigan
Role: Writing Intern
Fundraising Goal: $500
How did you get interested in global issues?
I think seeing so much about it on social media (especially now that it’s much more common to talk about these things online) has really increased my awareness about what is really happening around the world. It’s made me realize that something needs to be done about it and that a little bit goes a long way for countries with majorities living in poverty, so why not do our part to help?
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I have always wanted to help others, but never really knew the best way for me to do so. Taking time out of my day to both help raise money that goes toward an organization passionate about and dedicated to helping the world’s poor and to educate others about what is going on in the world, is a really simple way for me to make an impact. Especially as I’m still busy with college and can’t always physically go out and do things. It’s a way to use my writing skills to help others—something I’ve always thought about doing.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
Ever since I learned how to write, it has always been a passion of mine. I’m currently studying writing in college! However, when I’m not working on school/volunteer work, I can usually be found watching/talking about movies, seeing as it’s another big passion of mine.
