Name: Jillian Rose
Location: Fall River, Massachusetts
Position: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I am a huge advocate for women deserving the right to an education. It is a basic human need; however, in certain developing countries, this truth is believed to be an untruth according to local governments and extremist groups. By working with local congressional leaders, more policies and legislature can be written to abolish laws that prevent women and children from receiving an education.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I am volunteering my time to serve global issues like world poverty and hunger so that I can bring more public awareness to fortune and sheltered communities that never really were exposed to these issues growing up. The world is much larger than simply one’s own community, and it is about time communities all over the world take part in addressing the world’s issues together.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
My two passions in life are photography and traveling, and I hope with these passions of mine I can truly use them to make a difference in the world.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $50: Treat my friends and family to a special dinner
  2. $100: Treat my friends and family to a nice day at a Boston Museum
  3. $150: Treat my friends and family to a complimentary photoshoot with multiple locations and outfit changes
