How did you get interested in global issues?
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t think of global issues or think of myself as a global citizen. I believe that my health, and that of my city, state and country, are connected to the health of the Earth and its collective inhabitants.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I have always wanted to serve, but I didn’t know how or where to start. When I came across The Borgen Project, I began to see the impact their methodology can have on a large scale to concretely impact the lives of those living in extreme poverty. I was inspired and finally feel I have a pathway to make a difference.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
Anyone who knows me knows I am happiest singing, dancing, laughing and playing. I love stories and storytelling. I love to read them, write them, listen to them, watch them on stage or screen.

Just a tidbit…My grandmother, was one of the people who contracted polio in 1949, she lived for fourteen years in an iron lung. I have thought a lot about her since learning more about The Borgen Project. Polio is now almost completely eradicated, a big part of that success is the investment from nations in global health.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $100: Pogo stick in front of your house for one-hour
  2. $75: Cook dinner
  3. $50: 2 hours of help with any project
  4. $20: Do your grocery shopping
  5. Any amount and I will walk your dog ☺
