How did you get interested in global issues?
Whilst completing my history degree at the university of Southampton, it became apparent to me how intertwined the economies across the globe are, and how important it is that more affluent countries provide financial aid to struggling countries. From a historical perspective, there are numerous clear instances of this support paying off, particularly in the aftermath of World War Two, with the Marshall Plan.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
The Borgen Project’s success can be clearly seen in the US, and I would love for it to be able to make the same level of impact in the UK. By working for The Borgen Project, I can help rally support by talking to friends and family, as well as by emailing my local MP in support of these issues. By showing our support for these issues, we are more likely to see our country’s leaders show support for these same topics.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I’m a huge fan of dance and drama, and I’m also in the process of setting up a blog to write articles about niche areas of London’s history that interest me!
