Name: Janiya Winchester
Location: Greenville, North Carolina
Position: Journalist Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
Ever since I was a little girl, my biggest dream has always been to make a difference/impact in the world. I’ve always been interesting in global welfare and humanitarian work and to pursue volunteer work in this field of study. I really fell in love with it during my first international service project. I want to dedicate my work in my career field to the welfare of the world.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
The opportunity to serve the world’s poor completely aligns with my values in life. To serve and help others really is my underlying “why” for why I really do most things.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love to create content, be active, and spend time with my family. My family is my biggest motivator for success. I want to build generational wealth to help them and for philanthropy.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $50: I will cook dinner for you if ingredients are provided!
  2. $70: I’ll clean your house/apt.
