Name: Jackie Mead
Location: Hartford, CT
Position: Writer

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
The most fascinating part of my anthropology degree was learning that it’s not enough to have the solution to poverty—your solution needs to make sense to the people you’re trying to help. An anthropologist can make everything from vaccines to a new variety of vegetable go smoother, improving the lives of thousands.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I believe that since I have the skills and the time, I have a responsibility to help.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I have made 1,000 origami cranes

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
