Name: Isabel Fernandez
Location: Hastings on Hudson, NY
Position: Writer Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I was born into a multicultural family, so an international outlook has always been a core part of who I am. I find inequality intolerable, and my lifelong interest in international affairs perfectly combine to make me a crusader for the world’s poor.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Firstly, because someone has to, secondly, because I like to believe there are still noble causes left, and thirdly, because I want to be more than a bystander to people’s suffering.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
My hobbies ever since I moved to Spain have mostly involved traveling on budget airlines, wine tasting whenever possible, and further deepening my knowledge of tapas.

My compassion/humility list:

  1. $75: Provide full makeover (perfect eyeliner included)
  2. $75: I’ll make a cake for any occasion
  3. $100: I’ll make a traditional pitcher of sangria for you
  4. 50: Proofread and edit essays/assignments

I will do the following for any friends or family who donate in my honor…

  1. Sing you any song of your choosing
  2. Drive you around for a day (this is for my sisters)
  3. Babysit or pet sit
