How did you get interested in global issues?
Social studies and history classes in high school as well as a human rights-oriented curriculum in college sparked my interest in global issues and alleviating global poverty.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
My motivation to do my part in alleviating global poverty is two-fold: first, I believe as a United States citizen privileged to grow up in the World’s wealthiest country, it is a civic responsibility of mine to make use of whatever benefits and opportunities I have experienced and continue to experience to give a voice to the voiceless. Secondly, I feel that historical advantages which have resulted in widespread prosperity in the West today have conversely put developing nations, commonly referred to as the Global South, at an economic and social disadvantage. Through advocacy and lobbying groups such as The Borgen Project, it is possible to work towards diminishing that historical disparity.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love music and play the bass guitar in two bands as well as the violin. I love to cook, I love being outdoors and camping, and I speak German, Spanish and English.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
For anyone who donates $100 or more, I will do my absolute best to prepare you a meal featuring a main ingredient of their choice (If I can afford it).
