How did you get interested in global issues? Throughout my life, I have not experienced poverty not have I ever thought much about it. But, one day, that changed during my stay at a fancy hotel. Looking through the window, I saw a family whose house was right next to the hotel. The family did not have a proper house built and the children living there appeared malnourished. Seeing this made me rethink my actions on how the money I spent on staying at the hotel could have been given to the family and would have helped benefited them more. After coming to this realization, I felt like a change had to be made since I believe that no individual should have limited resources in life, while someone else gets more.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor? Because I believe a change can be made to solve world poverty. There are many ways in which the U.S government can solve global poverty, but, unfortunately, the government does not invest a lot of money to solve it. I also imagine how my life would be if I did not have enough, and I would wish that I could receive help from someone to get me out of poverty. When I help the poor, I am not just helping one person, but I am improving the lives of many individuals. With these things in mind, I feel motivated to dedicate my time to help the world’s poor.
Any interesting tidbits to share? I like to take care of animals (Currently, I have a pet bird and cat). I also like to draw, go on morning runs, and travel!
