Geraint Manley

Name: Geraint Manley
Location: Cardiff, United Kingdom
Role: Political Affairs Team Member

Fundraising Goal: £400

How did you get interested in global issues?
As Connor Roy from Succession once said, “I was interested in politics from a very young age”. I remember I had a teacher that was really passionately left wing, and his views really helped inspire me into sympathy for those struggling. I did lots of voluntary work domestically, helping out in legal clinics and foodbanks, and I appreciated the opportunity to help people who have been struggling. However, the UK is only a small proportion of the world, and I am interested in helping others.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I find that it can be easy to ignore the issues that a lot of people experience, to stop yourself from going crazy. However, doing this doesn’t solve anything. I want to take advantage of the systems of governance in place to really make a tangible difference.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I represented Wales at a Youth Level in Cycling and I am Vegan!
