Name: Felix De Simone
Location: Sawyer, MI
Position: Political Affairs Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
For years, my grandfather has supported projects helping the global poor. He’s taught me the value of these projects, and I’ve seen their impact. People thousands of miles away are just as human as we are, and their issues should be taken just as seriously.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
In the words of Nelson Mandela, “ [poverty is] man-made, and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.” I want to be one of those human beings.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I’m interested in politics and history, and plan to major in these at university.

In my free time, I like to read, sing and play the saxophone.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $50: Mow your lawn and/or do any house or yard work for an afternoon
  2. $75: Sing a song of your choice or play it on the saxophone
  3. $100: Cook dinner or make a dessert of your choosing
