How did you get interested in global issues?
I had always grown up knowing that I wanted to make a change, but I never knew how or in what way. After starting school at the University of Michigan and meeting people from all around the country and the globe, my eyes were opened to the variety of opinions and values held by the people I had met. After talking to many people, I realized the importance of having a global perspective in every aspect of life. From there, I sought to find out as much as I could about the issues that plagued people across the globe.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I decided to volunteer my time to serve the world’s poor because I believe that this is a huge issue that is not getting nearly the amount of attention that it deserves. Many people are not aware of how easy it is to help the world’s poor and have no idea about the benefits that come from ending global poverty. I hope to shed some light onto these issues and to raise awareness on how important it is for the United States, as a nation, to prioritize helping the world’s poor.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I just completed my first-year at the University of Michigan. I hope to study Public Policy with a focus on Foreign Affairs at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. In my free-time, I like to spend time with friends or watch T.V. shows like Grey’s Anatomy or Friday Night Lights while snuggling with my cat.
