How did you get interested in global issues?
Among many conversations that I had with my friends from college involved the problematic issues of being forced to go back home and the living conditions that they left behind for a better life. I believe that it is imperative for the world to understand these issues are just around the corner and solutions need to be made in order to face them head on.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Living in a lower-class area, I know firsthand what it’s like to go without a few meals and having to work with what you have to live on. As a missionary in my local church, I strive to do the best I can to help anyone in need, sometimes giving the last of my change. I know that there is more that needs to be done to solve global poverty, and I want to be apart of the product that changes the world.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I have loved to sing ever since I was a little girl and have continued to bless others with hope through the sound of my voice. My writing career began when I was in kindergarten when I published my first poem and has continued to thrive ever since. I also started my own blog where I give my opinion on movies and books, encouraging others to expand their tastes.
My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
- $10: Make baked goods
- $10: Skip A Meal
- $20: Cook dinner
- $20: Try new foods
