Elinor Manning

Name: Elinor Manning
Location: Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK
Role: Political Affairs Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I studied both Politics and International Relations at University, this is where I became interested in global issues. Living in the Middle East as a teenager also opened my eyes to the importance of international relations and global issues!

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
We are so priveleged to live in a politically powerful country, and the leaders of powerful nations should be both addressing and alleviating global poverty. Through volunteering my time to help the world’s poor via a Borgen Project Internship, I am helping to raise these issues to our leaders. I am passionate about volunteering, and passionate about politics, and I feel that alleviating global poverty should be at the top of the global agenda. Issues such as gender inequality, health inequality, and international security are all major issues which can be addressed through aiding global poverty.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I love travelling, volunteering, music (I’m a big Taylor Swift fan), and socialising with my friends. I am passionate about politics and would love to work for an NGO in the future, which is one of the reasons why I’m interning with The Borgen Project!
