Name: Dana Lara
Location: San Antonio, TX
Position: Political Affairs Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
Once I became a mother, I became interested and engaged in the quality of life that children live, both domestically and internationally. I believe that each person has one life to live and that living in extreme poverty and hunger is not the way to spend it.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I believe each person should be given an opportunity, a break, or a helping hand. As humans we are attracted to others and need connections to thrive. I would like to do my part in being a helping hand to those in need and give an opportunity to those who are not fortunate enough to have many at their disposal.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am a full-time student about to graduate from Texas A&M University. My next step in life is hopefully law school. I have a 10-month old daughter who is a daily motivation to accomplish the goals I have set for our life. She and I share our love for music, while she and her father share their love for the outdoors. Our goal is to take her to every aquarium in Texas and venture to other states.
