How did you get interested in global issues?
With everything currently happening in the news, my interest in global issues has grown. I am studying Homeland Security and Sociology, and I have been able to learn more about global issues through my majors. Current issues such as poverty and immigration affect every single country. I find it interesting how different countries handle these same issues.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I am volunteering my time to serve the world’s poor because I enjoy volunteering and making a difference in the lives of others, even if it’s something small. Recently I’ve noticed and became passionate about advocating for issues that mainly affect the world’s poor. This includes mass incarceration because there are many people locked up for nonviolent offenses, or because they cannot afford bail. I get very angry when people are mistreated because of the things they do or do not have, or their class status.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am a former gymnast and an avid runner. In my free time, I enjoy photography, filmmaking, writing, and shopping. In high school and in college, community service and helping others is a priority to me and was a huge deciding factor in where I was going to attend college.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  • I will personally go grocery shopping for you and pick up all the items on your list.
  • Assist you with needs, such as setting up for a party or event.
  • I will dog sit for you.
  • I will babysit for you.
